The Mothers' Union is a Christian organisation set up to help support family life. Away From It All (AFIA) is a holiday scheme funded by members of the Mothers' Union, to help people experiencing stressful situations who would not otherwise be able to have a holiday. Anyone can apply for a holiday, with each applicant being asked to provide a letter of referral from a professional who knows the family: GP, social worker, cleric etc. The holidays provided take many different forms, including caravan holidays, chalet accommodation and family holiday sites. Phab exists primarily to promote integration on equal terms, between disabled people and people without disabilities, in the wider community. They produce their own Holiday and Course Guide and Phab's various clubs organise a very wide range of holidays suitable for people with and without physical disabilities.

The Trust has specially adapted caravans and chalets at 12 sites in popular locations in England and Wales. Families with a disabled child are most welcome and they do not need to have any connection with scouting. Most of the accommodation is for up to six people and prices range from £95-£380, depending on location and time of year. Every holiday booked this year receives a £10 voucher off any holiday booked for next year, and there is a £25 reduction on second weeks. Brochure available from the above address.

Tour operator offering tours to Lapland where children can visit Father Christmas in his home and receive a gift (up to 11 years inclusive), sample reindeer rides, enjoy exhilarating husky runs, ride the Arctic Snowmobile, and much more. An all-in-one suit and boots for all outdoor activities are provided for the duration of the trip. The company have been operating this tour programme for many years and have carried numerous children with cancer, blindness, paraplegia, cystic fibrosis and most other disabilities. However, they do not provide special assistants, specially adapted vehicles/sleighs, harnesses etc within the normal tour cost. If additional services are required these should be requested and a quotation obtained. Within the normal tour cost, their staff are pleased to help and assist, but they are not trained either in the technical style of paraplegic lifting or specific assistance. Set in attractive gardens and grounds, in village location, five miles from the nearest coach station and seven miles from the rail station. Welcomes people with a physical or learning disability, either unaccompanied (all ages), with family and friends, or part of a supervised group (maximum 55 people). Registered as a residential care home with care staff on duty at all times. However, full care cannot be provided for large parties. Self-catering lodges designed for people with a physical disability are also available. These comprise of open plan living area, three bedrooms, two bathrooms and in-ceiling hoists. Well Farm is a Grade II listed medieval Dartmoor longhouse situated in the countryside, eight miles from Okehampton. Working family-run dairy and pig farm with peacocks, pheasants, free-range poultry and resident dogs and cats in the house. The ground floor annexe flat at the rear of the house is available as a family unit and suitable for some disabled guests. It comprises two small bedrooms, bathroom and sitting room with TV, video, fridge and fold up bed. The main house has two ensuite bedrooms, but they are on the upper floor. Bedrooms have electric fire, shaver point, tea and coffee making facility and electric underblanket in winter with partial central heating throughout. Clos des Vignes lies in an acre of quiet vineyard and gardens in the hamlet of 'Les Quatre Routes' (Le Givre), situated in South Vendee, Western France, 20km south of La Roche sur Yon. Up to seven guests can be accommodated in two new, independent lodgings which have been especially designed and equipped for wheelchair users, or guests who have reduced mobility. The society provides support and advice to people with a learning disability and their families and carers through its national network of 15 sectors and more than 450 affiliated local societies.
